The Body Shop Haul

Sunday, 1 February 2015

A few weeks ago I was invited to a friends house where she was hosting a Body Shop Party. It was a great evening where a Body Shop representative came along with lots of skin care and makeup goodies for us to all try out and if we wanted anything we could place an order. The added bonus was that on that evening we were given 30% off any products that weren't in the new line!

I knew straight away that the one product I wanted to get my hands on was the Honey bronzer.
This Bronzer is famous in the beauty world, and after trying it for the first time this morning I have to say rightly so. The texture of this bronzer is incredibly creamy for a powder and goes on smooth and silky. I am quite fair skinned so finding the right bronzer can be a struggle for me, but the Honey bronzer is the perfect tone with no orange or muddiness in sight. My only regret is that I wish I had bought two, this one which is in the shade 2 and then another in shade 3 so that I could use it for a contour shade. This retails on The Body Shop website for £13.

Of course I couldn't make an order without purchasing a  lipstick from The Body Shop makeup line. I chose a bright pink lipstick from the Colour Crush Shine Lipstick collection in the shade no.14 - Magenta de Rouge. This was actually a mistake. I had meant to chose one of the normal Colour Crush lipsticks but must have accidently ordered one from the Shine collection instead. But on applying this I was pleasantly surprised with the result. The colour doesn't come out quite as opaque as it looks in the bullet, however considering the 'glossy' formula they still have good colour pay off. I have been wearing this lipstick all day, eating and drinking, and, although the majority of the colour has worn off, it leaves a nice stain that isn't patchy in colour. Not quite as cheap as a drug store lipstick, but no where near as expensive as high end ones this retails on the website at £10.

After trying the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster last winter I have since been on the hunt for a more affordable version. So immediately the Vitamin C Skin Reviver jumped out at me. I tried this out at The Body Shop party and liked the way I felt so decided to give it a go. The texture is different to the Truth Serum as it is much more on the cream side where as the Truth Serum has a gel consistency. I can't say what this product is like in the long run but on first try I can say  that it smells AMAZING, feels soothing and moisturising on the skin and it has a shimmer running through it which adds a lovely iridescent glow to the skin. I will definitely be sticking with this and will likely do a more in depth review in a few months. This retails for £15 on the website.

The final item a bought was a body brush. I purchased this with the hope that I could use this as a dry brush and I was really happy when it arrived and I found that It would be perfect for just that. At £8 on the website this is a nice cheaper alternative to a lot of the dry brushes that are on the market. The bristles are half way between soft and firm making this the perfect tool for dry brushing. I love the fact that this had a study base which feels expensive with a round handle which makes brushing a lot easier.

Over all I was really happy when my purchases were delivered, and the 30% off was a great excuse to try lots of new things. I only wish I had got more!
