So as far as hairstyling devices go, I've got them all. Straighteners, curling wand, heated rollers......the list goes on. I had seen a few reviews on the Curl Secret but wasn't really sure if it was something I was interested in. I'm not one for perfect ringlets that look as if they have been professionally put in place, I prefer the 'messy' look when it comes to curls. So I did not think the Curl Secret was something that I would work well with. This was until my hairdresser used it on me. The finish was exactly how I like my curls to look, and it was so quick and easy to do! This was the day I decided I needed the Babyliss Curl Secret in my life!
So lets get to the details. The Curl Secret is described as using 'revolutionary auto curl technology' to create perfect, long lasting curls. If you haven't seen one in action then go check out this YouTube tutorial to see how it works. The only way to describe it would be to say that it 'sucks' in the sections of hair, you hold for 3 to 5 beeps, and then voila! - You have the perfect curl!
In more descriptive terms there is basically heated barrel inside the head of the device which spins twisting your hair around it as it does so. It really is fascinating to watch.
There are 2 heat settings and 3 timer settings for several different finishes from a beach wave effect to a full on ringlet curl. I surprisingly like them all even though I'm not normally a ringlet girl. I have even tested it on my mum's hair who has much thicker and longer hair than I do. It curled her hair just as easily, it did take slightly longer as you would expect, but still gave a lovely finish which lasted all day.
I have previewed it here for you on the second setting.
Before - washed and blow dried hair. no products other than the usual shampoo and conditioner. |
The result on the second timer setting. This took 16 minutes, so not incredibly quick but significantly easier than using my curling wand or straighteners so it is worth the extra time. |
This is the result on the third timer setting. I didn't even apply hair spray and the curls stayed in all day (even after cooking Christmas dinner in my tiny kitchen!). |
Priced at around £120, it isn't the cheapest of hairstylers, but for what it does I don't think it is excessive either. They are available from several outlets including Boots which is where I purchased mine. If you have any questions about the Babyliss Curl Secret then please comment below.
See you again soon
